The rumours from Pekin that Prince Kung, late First Secretary of State, had committed suicide in consequence of his having been publicly degraded, is denied. ATTEMPT TO DESTROY THE GEEMANIA MONOMENT. London, April 27. 1 An attempt has been made by the anarchists to destroy the statue of "Germania" (which was unveiled at Niederwald in September last) by means of dynamite. It is now ascertained that an attempt was made.to destroy the Neiderwald 1 Statue the day it was unveiled by the Emperor William, but failed, pwing to the heavy rain falling.
