CROWN LANDS BOARD.

The regular meeting of the Crown Laadg Board was held yesterday. Present: Mr. D. A. Tole (Chief Commissioner and Chairman), Messrs. Tonks, May, and. Moat. Tbe minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed.

HoKiAbCA.—Two allotments at Omapere were withdrawn from sale by direction of the Minister of Lands. . "... '~.'•

Papaeata.—The Koad Board applied for two lota for recreation purposes.—lt was agreed to reply that the lots could not be dealt with at present, as they were taken up by Waikato immigrants. '"' i •' Forfeiture.— In regard to the forfeiture of Mr. Wills' section, Waimata, Ormond, correspondence on the subject was read, and it was agreed to inform Mr. Wills that he must pay up arrears of rent within two weeks, and effect improvements as required by the Lands Act, 1877, otherwise hie select tioa will bo declared forfeited.—ln regard to the forfeiture of Mr. Berry'e selection in the same block the local land officer reported favourably in regard to Mr. Berry. - Section 23 of Waimata was withheld from sale, being supposed to possess thermal springs. ' ' Taupo Lands.—ln reply to an application from Mr. .Robert Graham it was agreed to offer certain lands for lease for 21 yean, also to lease the Kaingaroa block.

Advkbtisements.—An application from the manager of the Observer for permission to insert land advertisements was deolined.

Waipipl— Mr. William Douglas applied for permission to purchase certain land nndef the squarriag up clause. It was agreed to inform him that the land can be sold at £2 an acre.

Homestead Selections.—lt was agreed that Mr. Campbell, homeitead seleotor, Tapu, be informed that his improvements mast be effected. It was also agreed'that Mr. Featherstone's selection at Oponga be offered for Bale subject to his improvement*. Gomfield.—The Resident Magistrate, of Mangonui suggested that £30 be charged for two years to Messrs. Matthews for the right to dig gum on a depasturing lease at Puhake. —The recommendation was approved. Okaihau.—This was an application -from a Mr. Graham for land for his wife and child under the homestead system.—The application was approved, and one house only will be required for the family. >.-■■:

. Extension of Time.—Mγ. Maxwell, homestead .selector, Raglan,- was granted six months' extension of time in which to complete his improvements, and similar, extensions were granted to Mr. Hewlett,' of Mareatai, and to Mir. Hurley.

Crown Grams.—Mrs. Lamb's application for a Crown grant for land at Okahu viia granted, and it was agreed to recommend that the Crown grant should be and several applications from homestead settlers were referred to the ranger for hia report. RAKGrrorTJNi.— Inroepect of Mr.Duncan's application to have this land opened under the homestead system, it was, agreed that the land be surveyed and offered for sale.

Aral —William Lawrence, applied for a piece of land under the homestead system. —It was agreed to offer the land for sale. -

Ohiwa.—Mγ. Blauk applied for lot 92, Ohiwa. —It -was agreed to refer to the Government to ascertain i£ the land was required for native purposes, and if not so required that it be offered for sale. - Kamo.—ln regard to Mr. Greaves' application to purchase a piece of land at Kamo, it was agreed to retain tke land, as it contained a mineral epring. ■ ■ Lease.-—Messrs. Vaile and Douglas applied to lease part of lot 104, section. 6, Mount Eden, saburba of Auckland.—lt was agreed that the land should be retained, aa it may be required for some public .purpose. Miscellaneous.— A nomber of applications to bave lands offered for sale were' received and dealt with. ..::. ..-.
