BAKER PASHA AND THE BRITISH ARMY.
; The agitation in favour of Baker Pasha's restoration to the British army continues to increase. Even Punch, which was terribly severe on Baker Pasha at the time of hie dig race, hag this week taken up his cause, and published some very stirring linec npon his achievements in Egypt, and hie endeavours to wipe out the stain which has hitherto attached to his name. The. Prince of Wales is understood to be strongly in favour of the gallant Pasha's restoration to the British army. Publio opinion generally is unfavourable to a whiteWashing of this gentleman, but bis reinstallation as head of his old regiment, the Tenth Hussars, would meet with very little approbation. Her Majesty the Queen ie the chief obstacle to Baker Pasha's restoration or advancement, and that upon legal rather than personal grounds. The Prince of Wales is said to have the intention of going to Egypt. Of course he will meet Baker Pasha there, and the result may be an increase of pressure upon.
