MAJOR ROPATA'S SALARY.
: [by xmjsgkaph.—press association.] Wellington; Wednesday. With reference to the reduction oE the salary paid to Major Ropata, it is stated that it has only been made in the militia and land purchase service, which at present are not performed by the Major. As Native Assessor, he was in receipt of a salary ot £50 per annum, and this has been increased to £100, thcs placing him on the same footing as the principal assessors.
