HAMnoToir, Monday. The annual meeting of the Football' Club was held on Saturday night at Halley's Hotel. Present : Messrs. Eindon, Stevens, Stewart, Walnutt, Franklin, Yonge, Beale, Mclntyre, Biggs, W. Odium, J. Odium, Pilling, Von Stunner, Thompson, Carter, and Aitken. Mr. F. A. Whitaker was elected President, and Mr. J. B. Whyte Vice-president. The following committee was appointed, namely:—Messrs. T. G. Sandes, Bindon, Stewart, Odium,, Beale, Stevens, and Franklin. Mr. W. Von Sturmer was appointed treasurer and secretary, and re-elected captain of the club. It was arranged to play the opening game of the season on Saturday next on Sydney Square. On Saturday morning, considerable excitement and indignation wa3 occasioned by the discovery that a number of dogs in both East and West.Hamilton had been poisoned during the night. Among 'them were some valuable sporting dogs and others. It would seem to have bean the work of some scoundrel who must have laid poison in the public streets on both sides the rivar, and have been done on Friday evening, as two dogs were seen lying dead in the street opposite Gaudin's Hotel, as early as ten o'clock, on Friday night. The appearances are those ot strychnine having been need. The police have made enquiries, but no strychnine has been sold at the chemists' shops hero since January last. A reward of £10 has been subacribod and offered for the conviction of the offending party. . MOREINsviLLK, Monday. A lad named Evans, living with Mr. John Gifford, met with a severe accident on Friday. He fell on a fern hook, and inflicted a nasty wound on the right knee-cap. A speoial meeting of the Kirikiriroa Road Board was held on Saturday, to open tenders for raising and widening the road across the swamp near Tauwhare Temperance Hotel. C. Larkins' tender at ninepence per yard was accepted. Tendere were rejected from ninepence to Is 3d. • _ ..-■.-.. A meeting of creditors in Cumming's estate was held to-day. Mr. Hally, trustee in Blaok's estate, was Chairman. Four creditors were present; in person, including' three trustees in bankrupt estates and a considerable number by proxy. A written protest against the legality of the meeting was handed to the Chairman by the three principal creditors. Messrs. Winter, Bnckland, and Hay, but it does not appear on the minntes of the meeting. The resolution was expressed on the minutes to be unanimous, but four creditors inserted as being present and a party to the unanimous vote, .: were . not present at the voting, anil dissent from it.* It is understood that opposition will be offered to the discharge in the District Court,'and if necessary in the Supreme Court. ,
