George stayed for some time, when the latter was caught at the wickets by Ansenne off Mathieson after ' contributing 22 out of a total of 26. Dunkley. (14), J; George (13), and Yates (13, not out), .who was a substitute, all did well for their runs, and the innings olosed a little after four o'olock for 85, whioh, with the surplus of 15 runs, left Auckland 101 runs to make to claim the match. Blair, and Beale were dismissed, before a run was made,.and Mathieson was Out when the total was 2 for three wickets. O'Brien and Reid, however, stopped, the collapse for some time,, and 30 was registered before the West End man was caught by Mills off his own bowling. O'Brien played well for his 24, not without a couple of .chances, however, and McKinney soon put on 20 runs. Ansenne played a very u3eful .innings for 23, not out, and when time was called at half-paßt five p.m. the last man was in, and 20 runs still required to get.
