The Railway Department wIU purchase Puriri Sleepers, 7 feet by 8 inches by 6 inches in size, delivered into railway trucks on the wharf, LyttMton or Port Chalmers, at four shillings and nlnepence (4s fid) each. Sleepers to be either sawn or hewn, true in shape, to be all heartwood, froe from large knots, shakos, and other defects ; to be approved and passed by the Government Inspector at the port of delivery. Any sleepers which may be condemned must be removed within fourteen days after notice from tho Inspector, fulling which they will be forfeited and become the property of the Crown.
