Hunter and Nolan held an important Bale of hor*e stock. Ten very fine Clydesdale mares were sold in one line to Mr. Phillips for £525, and some nfty horses of various classes,, but of excellent stamp, imported from the West Coast by Messrs. Fruit ha? come to hand fretly, and sold xre)2. Potatoes have not imoroved, but few have comn to hand, and those of better quality, therefore meet of those on hand were cleared out yesterday. Onions have hoen dull, ' but («w on hand. Cheese has moved off slowly; second-class and Inferior very low. Bacon bas been dull; no good local to hand. Butter in fdir demand. Famiture has moved ofl freely. Wednesday : Sale of fruit, etc., at the mart. The attendance was good ; competition brisk; prices realised very satisfactory. Hobart apples sold at lis 6d Dcr case ; p*ars, 10s to 13s 9d: plums, 4Jd per lb ; Auckland applet, 2Jd to 3Jd per lb.; pcari, ld to 3Vd ; peacher,2d; tomatoes, id to l£d; passion fruit, ajH to 3jd per dozen; potatoes, 3* to 4Js 6d; Canterbury bacon. 7Jd to 9±d. Thursday: Sale of looldng'glaases, clothinr, &c., at > marL A fair attendance, bidding languid; satisfactory prices were obtained. Friday: Market-day, sale of poultry, producc, fruit, &c. There was a good attendance., llost of .the potatoes {on hand were ' cleared off with difficulty ; many lots had to go at low price*, the quality being far from good; Onions wero difficult to-quit; most of those on hand were sold. Chesse and butter moved off fairly : bacon not much in demand. Fruit sold well; alarte quantity ent«red. Fowl* wore not entered in solargequantity as usual, and prices ruled low. were plentiful, and prices very low ; the birds wire m±ny of them very small.
