The total reserve in. the BaSk of England in notes" and bullion is £15,400,000, an increase of £300,000 since last Thursday. The proportion of reserve to liabilities has advanced 20 per cent, during the week, and is now 48 per cent. The bank rate of discount remains at 2£ per cent., and the market rate at 2 per cent. ' Consols are unchanged at 102 J. New Zealand securities are as follows The 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 103; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 105; 4J per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 102; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 101 J. There are no changes to report in the markets for colonial breadstuffs or [ tallow.
