'Some people did not like to have it known that their property waa in the -market. . The offer was made when he (the Chairman) was ln Nelson.—Colouel Haultain said th»t the site of the paddock at tho rear of Government House was referred to.Mr.: Maokeohnie.—l'ho Mayor.said that when tho Governor came to Auckland there was no other place he could reside in:except Government House. It might be cousidered objeo-; tionable to have a school boarding-houße next door;— Colonel Hault.tin said the Governor had-iintimated his acquiescedce with the appropnation of the available ground' at the rear of Government House for that, purpose. —It was resolved that the proposed site was unsuitable.—On the motion pf 'Mr. Darga? ville, it was resolved that the sub-committee should inspect the paddock next to Mr. MacGormick's, near the Hospital. St. Patrick s Day.—lt was resolved that Monday (St; Patrick's Day) should be a holiday.
