; PUBLIC NOTICE. fJIHE Q.RAND JJOTEL, TOR ; . TOURISTS, FAMILIES, AND COMMERCIAL GENTLEMEN.DUNEDIN OTAGO. In introducing to public notice this beautiful structure, which is admitted by all visitors who hava inspected it to be the premier Hotel of the Austral' asian Colonies, the Proprietors bog to draw the attention of visitors and residents to some of the advantages it will offer. Being of fireproof construction, with simple and effective means of escape from every floor by the exterior balconies and circular iron staircase, all the upper floors are made practically as safe as the ground . one. Each floor Is supplied with a sepanite tiro «er- ' vice, made to our order by Messrs. Shand and Mason, of London. i No modern publio building can rank as first-ola&s \ unless great attention be paid to these particulars. This Hotel is insured for 60 per cent lower premium ( than any other hotel in the Colony. r It has a central and opon position, facing Custom, house Square ; charming views are obtainable of the harbour, Peninsula, and ocean from the upper floors; it is situated in the centre of the tramway sjstema, and at a convenient distance from the railway station. ,• It is commodious enough to afford all those comforts and conveniences that are to be found in the largest modern hotel establishments, such as efheient office administration, which will be arrangod on the American plan; a beautiful vestibule, ptssengor elevator, sample-rooms, large private reading and smoking room, a guests' drawinr-room for ladies and gentlemen, avoiding the necessity of private u arlours; i suites of rooms with private baths ; private bath and i toilet accommodation solely for ladles; a ladies' i private entranoe and reception room ; a hairdressing establishment, laundry, etc. Tho sanitary appliances, which are of the most perfect description, were imported specially for the buildings, and to avoid faulty fitting, and to;ronder the Introduction of sewer gas impossible, the plumbing has not boen done by contract, but with the greatest care by Messrs. Anderson and Morrison, who were under instructions to execute all this work on the plans recommended by the London Sanitary Commissioners. The basement drainage is perfeot, and the whole section is concreted and cemented ; whilst: thero is also an abundance of light and ventilation lav: every part. Thus the wholo building cannot be . otherwise than healthy and agreeable. It will be newly and elegantly furnished . throughout Special attention will be paid to the bedding : woven wire spftng mattresses only will be used. Notwithstanding aU these advantages the tariff will be ne higher than that of other Arst-olass hotels. This Hotel is confidently presented to the public as the leading one of the Colony. The new establishment will be carried on under distinct management, and will in no way affect the old one (known as Watson's Hotel and Cat 6), which has just been renovated, and will be conducted as .usual; under a reduced tariff.
