FORBIDDING THE BANNS.
Aγ the Ulverstone Parish Church on day morning, when the ourate read out the banns of marriage, a woman evidently belongip.g to the labouring class, who bad placed hcrseif in the aisle, close to the pulpit, rose 'in the pew and said, "I forbid it." The curate, however, continued reading, when the woman repeated, " I forbid it." The vicar then rose and said that he would hear the objection in the vestry, upon which ehe moved in that direction, when the vicar added, "After tbe service." The service was then proceeded with, aud an explanation afterwards- showed that the intended bride was the daughter of the woman who had -for- "" bidden it, the girl being only fifteen years of age.
