POOLEY'S MARINE CONCERTS.
The musical enterprise of Mr. Pooley deserves the highest commendation; The first of his " water concerts " came off on Saturday afternoon. The Takapuna, ferry steamer; ■ was chartored for the purpose ; a first-class pianoforte was put on board, and the best local talent was engaged to make the cruise up the harbour as pleasant as could-be. The boat was well filled with ladieß and gentlemen. Among those present were the captains of the ships Turakina and Opawa. The ; ferry steamer proceeded to Lucas ? Creek, and there "made fast" to Forgham's wharf, whero the programme was carried; through. The settlers on either side of the river came down and appeared to enjoy the music. The weather, not altogether bad, was unsettled, sunshine alternating with squalls of wind and peltingrain. The concert opened with a pianoforte duet by Mr. Angelo Forreßt. and Mr. Pooley (overture to "Zampa") which wasexcellently played. Mr. Worrall sang " The Skipper's Flag " with good effect. An admirable performance wus a duet, "On tho blue waves" (Panofka), sung by Madame; Pooley and Mr. Simpson. Madame Pooley sang, with her usual feeling and linisb, " The old, old story " (Blumenthal), and; " Robin Adair." Mrs. Revitt sang " One. morning, oh, so early " (Gatty), and the pretty sone, "If," by Pinsuti. This lady is; acquiring quite a. reputation for her successful, interpretation of light and graceful compositions, of this olass. Mr. Forrest also played the "Cracovienne," and Meßsrs. Worrall ' and Simpson sang the well known duet". All's Well." Selections from Mendelssohn's open air music were performed, by Mr. Pooloy during the sail. The concert concluded with "Auld Lang Syne," in which the whole company joined, and returned to. town, arriving at the wharf about twenty minutes past six p.m.
