AUCKLAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

The annual firing for prizes took place at Mount Eden Kifle Range on the 29th January. Three matches were fired—the first for Mr. Beck's Cup, the second for the Evening Star Cup, aud the third for the Citizens' Trophy. There was not a large number of competitors, there being only half the number of last competion, owing no doubt to the fact that the firing took place on Regatta Day. Taken as a whole, the weather was favourable for good shooting, and some excellent scores were made. The teams' match will take place on the first Saturday afternoon on which the range is available, and will be advertised. We are requested to state that the eight highest scorers will meet at the Rifle Range on Saturday, the 9th February, to fire a match against the Fiji Rifle Association. The firing is to commence at half-past two p.m. We would strongly recommend the Association to endeavour to procure a raDge of their own, which would enable them to complete the whole of their firing on one day, and thereby do away with the necessity for extending their, firing over several weeks.
