OPEN SAILING BOAT RACE.
♦ An open boat race has been arranged between the well-known boats Gertie and Transit for a sum of £50 a-side. The race has been fixed for Saturday next, to start at nine a.m. ; the course to be from the Queen-street Wharf, out through the Bangitoto Channel, and then on round the island of Kawau, and baok to the Queen-street Wharf. Isaac Hunt is to sail the Gertie, and S. Dove the Transit. The yacht Christina is to follow the race to see that the race is fairly sailed, and to be about should any accident occur to either of the competitors.
