DEATH OF MR. JOSEPH BROWN.
Oor readers, and especially old colonists, will regret to learn the death of Mr. Joseph Biown, for many years known and beloved as organist of St. Matthew's Church, and as conductor of the Auckland Choral Society. Mr. Brown had some time ago retired from public life, and for several months past had suffered trom a painful and incurable illness, which ended in his death yesterday at noon. Ho leaves a widow and a family of five sons and two daughters. The funeral will leave the reeidence of his son-in-law, Mr. Heather, of Mount Eden, at half.past three o'clock this afternoon, and may be expected to reach St. Sepulchre's Church, Kyber Pass, at ton minutes to four. The first part of the burial service will be held in the church, after which the body will be interred ia the cemetery, Symouds-strcet. The committee meeting of the Auckland Choral Society (of ,whioh society Mr. Brown was conductor for very many years) which was to be held this afternoon has been postponed till to-morrow.
