ACCIDENT AT NEWTON.

A ratiikr serious accident occurred on Mon- ' day afternoon, at JNewton, to an elderly settler—Mr. Paice, of Mount Eoakill. Mr. Paice had a cart and two horses at Mr. Hedley's (blacksmith) shop, and when leaving, one horse was in the shaft 3 of the trap and the second was tied behind! In turning sharply the trap upset, and Mr. Paice was thrown out, the trap falling on him. Assistance was promptly rendered, and he was extricated from his dangerous position. Dr. Walker was quickly in attendance, and accompanied Mr. Paice to his home. Upon examination it was found that the pelvis was injured ; but, although he is at present suffering great pain, Dr. Walker does not anticipate any very serious results. He visited him again yesterday, and found that he was progressing favourably.
