[fhom our own cobbespondent.J Alphabet. —A trial crushing of one ton of quartz was treated at the Waiorongomai battery this week, and yielded the very good return of 6ozs. retorted |»old. Inverness.—The crushing of five tons of quartz was finished at the Waioronpomai battery, returning the very good yield of 21ozs. 15dwta. retorted gold. Diamond Gully.—The manager in breaking down the reef got some nice kindly looking stone, showing the reef improves in size and richness aa it is driven on.
Welcome.—Work waa resumed on Monday last, and two men hive been occupied in sinking the winze. The country is becoming more kindly, and the leader when broken has shown gold freely, some fair picked stone coming to hand on Thursday. Lucky Hit.—The manager still continues to break out rich quartz from the Nos. 1 and 2 reefs.
The reported new discovery beyond the Premier turns out to be a fine looking lode, from four to six feet thick. At prestnt no gold can be seen in the quartz.
