GAS.—They have much pleasure in referring to the high standard of this article, as determined recently by the Engineer to the City.Council. A report upon the quality of the Gas, npon tests made by the Engineer, was brought up by the Streets Committee and laid before the Council, at their meeting held on the 30th ultimo. The report stated—" The result showed that the quality of the gas was equal to 19.80 candles. On examination of the Company's Book (record of tests) it showed that THE GAS IN NO CASE WAS UNDER 18 CANDLES, WHICH IS A HIGH STANDARD." COKE.—This article is now of a high class, being very free from stone and clinker to an extraordinary degree. As their Coke is not now liable to fly, consumers may use it in open registers with much pleauio.
