EUROPEANS MURDERED BY AUSTRALIAN BLACKS.
An Adelaide telegram dated September 28, in the Sydney Morning Herald, reports a massacre by blacks in the far north. The telegram is as follows The following telegram has been received by the PostmasterGeneral "I beg to report that a native on Attack Creek informed my wen that Radford, Macansli, (Jhr, and Kelly, who were returning from Tennant's Creek to Buchanan River (east of here, via Attack Creek} were murdered by a 'tribe of natives (Wajaias). It is said thi'.t the whites had a brush with the natives and killed two. The natives followed aud killed the white men. The native states that the bodies were being devoured by wild dogs, and the murderers were feasting on the cattle. As near as can be ascertained, the scene of the supposed outrage is sixty miles east of Attack Creelc. The natives are untruth-
fill, but, owing to late outrages in the vicinity, there may bo some truth in the story." Further -information has been received from Tennant's Creek respecting the outrage recently committed in that locality by the natives. Mr. Radford and the telenh operators left Attack Creek on the sth eptember, to go about 100 miles. After leaving they camped on the bank of the Buchanan River. There were two natives with them, from one of whom this information respecting the outrage comes. His companion objected to hie giving the information to the whites, through fear of punishment, but th<s native, whose name is Jimmy Chingilli, did so, and seemed anxious to make it known that " the old man "—meaning Mr. Radford—was killed. No definite information could be obtained from the blackfellow Jimmy,, as he was unab'e to speak a word of Eoglish, and the white mea he
spoke to were equally unable to converso in the_ native language. There are several white men camped on the Buchanan; but it is doubtful if any of them are competent to undertake" a journey across the wild unknown country to the alleged scene of the outrage. Radford, it is said, returned via Attack Creek to look for a better watered track. *Fhe armed party who some time ago went out to endeavour to arrest the natives who murdered Martin, are supposed to.be on the Newcastle, about 160 miles north/When they are next heard from instructions will be sent to them to wait for further orders. i
