ORPHAN HOME, PARNELL.

The Secretary, Mr. G. P. Pierce, read at the last meeting of the Board of Management a report from Mr. Pope, the Government Inspector, who recently visited this institution, who snys : "The school is well supplied with furniture and appliances, and the echoolroom is neat and tidy. The instruction given is of very good quality, and the order and school tone also most satisfactory. The mistress (Mrs. Scarlett) is a valuablo teacher, and she deserves great credit for what she has done in the school. He thinks, however, that she requires the assistance of an assistant teacher. The children appear to be very healthy, and they all have a happy look on their faces, thai shows they are well and kindly treated. The matron, Mrs. Neary, tias effected a really surprising change since'his last visit. Every thing is in firstclaßs order, and there is nothing whatever to find fault -with." Tho Board of Management, acting on the suggestion made by Mr. Popa, intend at once to engage a junior teacher for the younger children, and have adopted some minor recommendations made by the Inspector, which it is hcped will still further improve the health and liappineßS of the tiixty children maintained in this excellent institution.
