CONGREGATIONAL HOME MIS SION.

A MEEiiNG in connection with the Auckland Congregational Union and Home Mission was held at the Beresford-atreet Hall last evening. The Rev. J. Robertson, M.A., presided. The report of the Secretary (Mr. Milne) reviewed the work doue since September, 1880. The report showed that the Rev. A. Ridings, in the face of many difficulties, had been very successful in bia work at Maungaturoto, where the services were well sustained. The church at MauDgaturoto was Bnancially sound and free from debt. The Rev. T. Hamer had resigned his charge at Onehunga, the property there had been sold and devoted to the purchase of an allotment at Mount H!dea, where services were commenced last Sunday with promising prospects. The work at the Thames was being carried on vigo-ously by the Rev. Mr. Adams, aud the Newton Sunday-school was still largely attended. The Secretary announced that the first meeting of the New Zealand Congregational Union would be held at Wellington in January next, and would be presided over by the Rev. J. Robertson. Captain Daldy, who had been connected with the work since its beginnings gave a short history of the movement. Mr. J. Moginie, Financial Secretary, stated that £93 hart been contributed by the Bere3fordstreet Church last year, and submitted a scheme by which £200 would be raised this year to aid the mission. The report was adopted. The Rev. Mr. Ridings gave a Bhort and interesting narrative of the work done at Maungaturoto, and the difficulties that had to be overcome. Daring the last three and a-half years £772 had been spent on the cause there, £407 of which had been raised in the district. The church had been enlarged, and all the services were now well attended, especially the'communion service. The Rev. Mr. Millars (from Glasgow) and Rev. T. Adams (of the Thames) also addressed the meeting.
