VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The menthly inspection parade of the Hobson Volunteer Company was held last night, and on this occasion the officer commanding the district, Major Shepherd, was present. There was an excellent muster of forty-two in the ranks, in addition to supernumeraries, and all the officers—Captain Oignan, Lieutenants Clifton and Connolly, and SubLicutenantFlynn—were in attendance. Some time was occupied in changing accoutrements. . The old accoutrements belonging to the company were worn out, and they were provided with some from the store. The inspection then took place. So far as the urms were concerned it was satisfactory, but subsequently the company was put through manual, presenting, and bayonet exercise, by Lieutenant Clifton, and marching exercise by Lieutenant Connolly. Sub-Lieutenant Flynn afterwards took the company over, and exercised them in mounting guard. The Major Commanding, before leaving the parade, expressed satisfaction, with the progress made by the company, and hoped they I would continue to progress.
