It is very reasonably urged that if Waikatomeat is to be sent in prime condition to the home market, the beasts must be killed in Waikatc, and Dot sent alive by rail to bo jolted and bruised with i-very jolt of the railway trucks. If a slaughtering establishment were erected anywhere ou the line between Ngaruawahia and Rukuhia, it would be central for all parts of Waikato, andPiako, and the Raglan tide of the Waipa, while it would only > mean a couple of days' further driving for the Napier ahe=.p, but save the latter the cost of railway freight for the carcases bebetween Patetere and Ngaruawahia, a considerable item of cost. _ At the quarterly meeting of the Wesleyan circuit, held here yesterday, the Rev. A resolution expressing approval of. the Methodist Union was carried unanim<As m'uch as £15 was -taken at the door?, on the occasion of the amateur dramatic performance here in aid of the funds of the Public Library.
