THE PREMIER RESIGNS.
MA JOE ATKINSON SENT FOR. A NEW MINISTRY TO BE FORMED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Sunday. The Hon. Fhederick Whitaker yesterday afternoon tendered to the Governor his resignation as Premier, owing to private business requiring his attention. The resignation -was received by His Excellency, who thereupon sent for Major Atkinson, and entrusted him with the duty of forming a new Cabinet. Major Atkinson undertook the task, and will to-morrow submit the names of his proposed colleagues to His Excellency for approval. Mr. "Whitaker left for" Auckland in the Hinemoa this morning.
