The barque Glance took her departure for London on Saturday last. The vessel is in excellent trim, and should therefore give a good account of herself on the run home. The Union Co.'a a.s. Southern Cross arrived in harbour from Wellington and other Easi {Toast ports with a cargo of sheep, &c, on Saturday morning last. She left Wellington on the 17th, Napier on the 19th, and Gisborno on ihe 20th, called at Open Bay and Owanui, leaching port as stated. She had S.E. winds to Napier, and from thence lieht and variable winds for the remainder of the trip. ■ The schooner Elsinore has just returned from another trip to Rarotonga, bringing a cargo of oranges. Her trip borne, however, has not teen avery pleasant one, being conspicuous for the long spell of dirty and vexatious weather encountered. Some of the blows were of great violence, and running before the gales being fraught with danger, the little vessel had to be hove-to upon two occasions. Notwithstanding the weather, the Elsicore las brought her cargo into port in excellent •order. She Jeft Barotonga on August 18, and Teached this port early on Saturday morning. The arrival of the schooner Elsinore from Haiotonga was followed yesterday afternoon by that of the schooner Atlantic, carrying the same bouse flag. Her trip, however, shows better time than her smaller mate, Captain Schultz being more foitunate in his weather. The Atlantic, which brings a cargo of copra, oranges, &e., left Rarotonga on the last day of August, -with fine S.E. bteeze, lastiDg till September 5; from then till sighting the North Cape, on "September 20, strong W. and S.W. winds; thence light S.W. winds till arrival. The schooner Fairy Queen was trading amongst the Islands when the Atlantic left BarotoDga, and the schooner Agnes Bell was expected at any moment at the island named from Haiatca. She was to come on to this port. The achotraer Matautu cleared outwards at the Customs on Saturday with a general cargo. She will take her departure to-day. The Bhip Zealandia is expected to be ready to sail for Dunedin about tho end of the preu'ent month. The barquea Asterion and Laira, both from Xondon, should be nearing our port by now. The xormer vessel is 99 days out, and the L&ira 97 days. Both may be looked for during the present week.
