GOVERNORS, OR REGULATORS FOR GAS.-The Company .avail themselves of 'thts opportunity to refer to a physical difficulty in the Supply of Gas. Coil Gas bSiiJg lighter than air, the pressure increases at the bhmers at the rate of about oiie inch per hundred feot of elevation. The most suitable pressure is less than one inch. It follows that a large proportion of tho City is subject to an excess of .pressure in its gas supply. The Company succeeded, about ten' ycars Biij.ee, notwithstanding most determined apposition, i.n getting the City Council to adopt the use of gover- '. nprs on tho public lamps.
