THe opening meeting of the season of the Mahurauyi Band of Hope tfas helil is tie Alah,uraui:i Public Ball, on Monday the 17th instant. The evening was beautiful, aiii there Was a large attendance. The Rev. J, S. Hudson presided. Tlie meeting was opened by the singing of Hymn Xo. 9. Hoyle's selection. Prayer -was offtred by the fiev. Chairman,, and, after a short address from the Chairman, the following programme was gone through : —Choir, " liook Not Upon the Wine," from John Tregenoweth; choir, "Good Heart and Willing Handrecitation, by Master H. Warin, "Johnny JlcCree;" recitation, by Master VViltia.m3, "How Happy We Shall Be choir, "Touch Sot the Cuprecitati'-n, by Mr. H. Snel! ; " Ben Bobbin j" reading, by Mr. X. iViisan, as relat-d by the Ee.v, Alexander ifclecel, "My Willie;" choir, "Sound the Kittle Cry recitation, by P. Thomson, "Lift Up the Temperance B:*nner;" choir, "love at Home recitation, bv J. Williams, "Beware of the Trap Boys;" ohoir, '*Tue Foaming Sea rtcitation, by £. Jiradnam, " Only a Boy recitation, by Alfred Warin, " Wife's Appealchoir, closing Hymn No. 11, Hoyle's selection. chort addresses were delivered by Messrs. T. Chaplin, and' G Moore. The choir consisted of the -Misses Win in, A. and M. Sout'hgate, Fisher, Yfors- %, Phillip?, afld-E. andF. SVilson. Messrs,. Harrison (conductor)., Clayden, Thomson, . Worsley, and Chaplin. Tue rendering of alt the pieces Was excellent, and much applauded. Mrs, Clij'toß presided at the piano. The rs citations were, with one 6XC e P* tioii, civen by boys (members), the o' l ™' ■not over 14 years, and were very creditably delivered. There were altogether aooai -w | members present, 4.0 having joined du«B? the past year. The pronouncing of Benediction brought a west agreeable e.ffiiiig to a close.—(Own Correspondent.]
