WESLEYAN HOME MISSIONS.

«»■ ■ The first meeting of the season in connection with the Wesley an Home Mission and Church Extension Fund, was held on Monday evening, in the Mangere Wesley an Church, under the Chairmanship of Mr. John Wallacej who, in the course of his remarks, expressed his high appreciation of Methodism, and particularly of the objects of . the fund under whose auspices they were met. He hoped that Mangere would manifest its usual libe.ality in support of the fund. The Rev. George B >nd then read a brief abstract from the annual report, showing the income for 18S2 to have been £2557, expenditure, £2630. Auckland district had helped the fund to the extent of £732. The proportion raised by the Manukau circuit was £31, nearly half of Which had been, raised by the Maogere congregation, which fact reflected great credit upon them. Se hoped that they would this yea,F ruiajn their high reputation for liberality. The Rev. W. J. Wat kin next delivered a telling speech, in which he pointed out the wisdom of the principle ''of the strong bearing the burdens of the weak." This was followed by a most powerful address from the Rev. Alexander ffeid, in which he dwelt largely on the Maori aspect of the question, referring to the triumphs of the Gospel among the. natives, in the early days. The meeting was large and enthusiastic, and the collection amounted to the handsome sum of £14 lis. A special selection of Sankey',B hymns w i as sung, Miss Wallace presiding at the organ. A vote of thanks to the Chairman, and the Doxology, brought the meeting to a close. A similar meeting is to be held this (Wednesday) evening in the Onehunga Wesleyan Church,.
