[PSOU OCR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] Hamilton, Tuesday. An abominable piece of larrikinisni: was perpetrated on Sunday last. The Borough Council have placed a watering trough, for horaes near the end of the bridge, which is supplied frqm the water brought from a spring on a higher level, in an underground iron pipe, and discharging irom a swan* necked iron pipe into the trough.. This latter portion of the pipe has been twisted until it has been broken in the joint below ground.
The Wailiato Cheese Factory Company hope to make a start on Monday next. In consequence of representations njade, the advantage Of sending letters at the charge of a penny stamp only will be extended to those going from East Hamilton to West Hamilton, as -well as. those going from West to East Hamilton.
Cambridge, Tuesday. Mr. J. A. Douglas, as will be seen elsewhere, haji offered the well-known steeplechaser, Qujlp, for Bale. At a meeting of the Town Board it was resolved to recommend the Governor to reduce the rents of the leases of the Domain lands; whjch the Board considered exceesive 5 but that in the event of the ients being reduced, the provision? as respects the improvements ebould be rigidly enforced. A windmill pump is to be placed at work on the recren' tion reserve, Mr. Forrest's offer to erect one for £26 3? 6d having been accepted. It is the intention of the County Council, to levy a separate rate of one halfpenny in the £ on all rateable property iii the Patetere outlying district and oue of three-sevenths of a peony in the £ ia the Te Aroha outlying, district.
The annual meeting of the Cambridge Cricket Club was held on Saturday night, when the following officers were elected :— President, Dr. W&ddington ; Vice-President, Major J. Wilson ; H. E.. Cotton, paptain ; J, P. Sharp, Treasurer and Secretary; Messrs. Stubbing, Kifkwood, Moore, Case, and the Rev, Mr. Dewsbury were elected a committee of management. Mr. Forrest has been authorised by the County Highway Board to see to the repairs of the. Meungakaw4-road at an expenditure not exceeding. £6.
