[from oue own correspondents.] ,}?, Hamilton, Monday. !: Mr. Jobson, Government Inspector of Steani Engines, is at present in Hamilton on an official visit to Waikato. Mr. Metcalf, the travelling agent of the Mutual Provident Assurance Company, has been for the last ten days in Hamilton, and has assured lives to the total amount of nearly £10,000 in that period. A fiue specimen of long red wurtzel, grown on the farm of Mr. S. T. Seddon, near Hamilton, is on exhibition at Mr. Knox's auction mart. Though not so large, owing to the dry season, as those shown the previous year by the same grower—namely, 49ibs., topped and dressed—the present specimen is a fine one for solidity and shape. The meeting of ilhe Waikato Rowing Club, called for Saturday evening, fell through for want of a sufficient attendance. It was stated that the gross proceeds of the promenade concert amounted to some £17, the expenses being between £10 and £11.

Cambhipge, Monday.: ; The football match on Saturday between tha Alexandra and Cambridge teams ended in a victory by four points, two touchdowns, for the local team. The attempt to get up a match between the Armed Constabulary and civilians of Waikato fell through,, but a return match between the Hamilton and Cambridge colts will be played here on Saturday next.

The Tamahere Highway Board have determined to do notliing toore towards keeping open the Victoria-road unless the Auckland Agricultural Companj will make an outlet for the wator from the large extent of country which they are. draining in this direction. The .Engineer to the Board estimates the cost of this outlet drain at £800, and the Board considers it impossible to enter on so large an undertaking. The chasm across the road where Mr. T. Wells met with an accident on horseback, last week Was seven feet wide.

Tne Cambridge Highway Board trustees have resolved to attend, the next meeting of the Waikato County Council as a deputation to try and obtain a financial settlement as between the Cambridge town and county ridings, and have instructed, their Secretary to writo to the Cambridge, members of the Council asking them to be present at the next meeting.

Arrangements have been Ordered to be made for the construction of a large culvert and the necessary earthwork, approaches, at C.avi'ford's Gully, the scene of so many recent accidents. The tramway road is also to be fo med and gravelled through the Taniahere district. Messrs. Sandes and Napper have reported favourably of a mad drainage schema for the Cambridge country district..

Oiiadpo, Monday. Messrs. Atkinson and Way, members of the Hamilton Highway Board, have made, a survey of the Mvstery Creek, bridge approaches, and are prepared to recommend their Board to do its share of the Work, leaving Pukekura Board to do its share on the other side of the creek.
