The stopes. above this level, to the northward the lode keeps about the same size, from 12 to 18 inches thick, shotting gold when broken down. No. 8 level:. We have driven a farther distance of 12 feet in the Vanguard, and I havo let a contract to Wilton andparty to drive 100 feet, at £1 Cs 6d per foot. lam putting through a. trial crushing from the Queen of thq May. We will have to drive 10 feet, mere on. it to get the junction of the tributers' leader, I have twoi I men sinking a winze on. the leader; they are down 5 fe6t, and will break down the lede tomorrow.

This cross-cuV was put in on one of these fiat mundio veins, which continued to the reef a distance of 24 feet. Where the reef is cut corresponds with the underlay, arid the class of gold is. the same as what was got in the level above. I shall then lay the mine tram from the low level to the hopper, and start to fill it with This will be ill completed by the time the county tramway is finished.

The Boss United Compahy.—The shareholders have reason to be pleased with the complete success of their splendid drainage Works.. Tho large bddy of water tapped the other day was the great barrier to the successful working of the Koas flit; but now this Is completely removed, and tbe companyground is drained perfectly to a depth of over one hundred feet, the: whole of which contains, more Or less gold. Arrangements are now being mads for the cocstructien of hydraulic dredges, through which it is intended to pass the whole of this immense body of gravel.
