CHURCH OF ENGLAND GRAMMAR SCHOOL SPORTS.

Thk<e sports, postponed from August 24th, because of the inclemency of the weather, came oil in the Domain Cricket Ground yesterday. The ground was somewhat heavy, and in places rough ; although, owing to the sportß having been held during the holidays, there were many country boys who could not compete, yet the lovely weather compensated for many drawbacks, and the day passed off very successfully. Mrs. Walpole gave away the prizes, one essential difference of which was that instead of the prizes being, as hitherto, more conspicuous for their price than their beauty, they consisted in great part of silver or bronze medals of but little intrinsic Worth,, yet the way the recipients were cheered as the light blue and white ribbons were pinned on to their coats, showed how the honour and not the value was appreciated. This change for the better is due, we believe, to the institution last year of the inter-school spurts, in which honours and not money's worth was the prize competed for. The following are the
