EXTRAORDINARY CONDUCT OF A BRIDEGROOM.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Friday. At the October sitting of the Divorce Court, an application for judicial separation will be heard before Mr. Juetioe Williams, tinder the following peculiar circumstances: — Margaret Laverty, the petitioner, alleges that on August IS, 1881, she was married to the respondent, Charles Laverty, of Green Island, farmer, at St. Joseph's Church, Dunt din, by Father Newport. On the same day the respondent threatened to desert her, grossly abused her, and fiually offered her £100 if she would desert him. Three days afterwards, when the parties were living at Croyton, her husband presented a loaded gun at her, and fearing that blood would be spilt, Laverty's brother Eeized the weapon and discharged it. During the following night JLaverty again threatened to shoot hia wife, who, fearing that he would carry hia threat into execution, fled from bis house, partially clothed, through the snow to that of a neighbour. The parties have been living separate since.
