HOSPITAL COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT.

j A meeting of the Hospital Committee of Management was held yesterday afternoon. Present: Metsrs. E. A. Mackecbnie (in the I chair), Dando, Bull, Kensington, Peacock, Clark, and Firth. Lady Superintendent.—A cablegram was received from Miss Laura Smith,, viz., "Particulars, terms? If can't come think can supply."—Mr. Clark said that althoughthe committee offered Miss Smith the position they might not be prepared to allow her to select a lady superintendent. It was agreed to send Miss Smith full particulars of the duties of lady superintendent. Two applications wore received for the position.—The Chairman said that Colonol Haultain had notified that Mrs. Kissling was prepared to take charge of the hospital as lady superintendent until a permanent appointment was made. Mrs. Kissling offered to take the position without any payment.—lt was agreed to accept the offer, with thanks. Nurses.—Tho Chairman announced the appointment of threo nurses, namely, Nurses Macartney, Jones, and Young. It was agreed to advertise for threo assistant nursos. —Dr. Mackellar said ho thought the work could be carried on, for the present, with this staff. He could get one ward into proper order.—Subsequently, Mrs.- Napier was engaged as nurse. The Committee's Recommendations.— A letter was received from the Colonial Secretary, acknowledging tho lotter of tho committee, containing recommendations as. to the hospital staff. Although the answer was indefinite, it was agreed to eariy out the recommendations.

Repairs, &c.—Tho Chairman said he had sent a telegram to the Colonial Secretary, asking to bo allowed to draw £100 for repairs and purchasing necessaries. No reply had been received, although the tologram was sent on Thursday last.—lt was agreed that tho Colonial Secretary be informed that the articles, &c., being required urgently, tho committee would authorise tho purchase of tho articles.

House Steward and Assistant; Dispenser.—Mr. John Bryco was appointed house steward aud dispenser, at £150 a year, with house and rations.
