FOUND DEAD IN THE STREET.
About six o'clock yesterday morning a man named John Spencer and three companions were coming down Shortland-street when they noticed a man lysng on the verandah of the Provincial BoardiDg House, behind a case or crate. Oo going over he was found to be dead, or in tho very act of dying, as the body was still warm. Tho men reported the matter at the police station, and Sergeant Clarke and Constable White went to the place indicated, and removed the body to tho morgue to await an inquest. The body was identified as that of William Morrison, who had only been discharged from gaol on Friday, and who was known as a vagrant. He was 66 years of age, and it is supposed the miserable old man had gone in where he wa3 found for shelter, and died of exposuro or drink. In all probability tho inquest will be held by Dr. Philson to-day, at Gleeaon's hotel, at the usual hour. i
