THE PRESBYTERY MEETING.
TO THE KDITOtt. Sir, —Permit me one word in reply t
McLeod'a note in this day's issue. He has not gained any point. In the largeness of lu3 heart Mr. Runoiman sought to question Dr. McLead by moving that that he be permitted ex gratia to appeal to the Assembly. His motion was lost. He dissented and complained to the Assembly against that decision. The only question that may be placed before the Assembly is—was the Presbytery acting according to ecclesiastical law in refusing an m gratia appeal to the Assembly? Suppose that point is decided against the Presbytery, the other points involved will be again considered with the game rosult. When a finding is unanimous, as it wa3 in accepting of Mr. Breach's resignation, no superior court will be moved to the revision of the case by an tx ymtia appeal, called forth by the after-thought of oue man.—l am, &c,
RoiIKKT SOMMEIWIIXK Avoudale, Bth December, ISS2.
