TYPHOID FEVER AT HAMILTON.

[ROM OTTR OWX CORRESrONBF.ST. ] Hamilton, Thursday. A cask of typhoid fever has broken out in "West Hamilton, upon that portion of the town which it is proposed to bring under the drainage system, on the west side of the river. The sufferer is Mr. Davy, a shopman in the emplyment of Mr. John Knox, and there is no doubt but that imperfect drainage and impure water on the premises in which he lives ia the cause of the disease. The cost of the drainage scheme for Hamilton is estimated at £2350, which would entail a rate of 4d ia the pound so meet interest and sinking fund. The drainage works, however, would so improve certain of the streets and roads as to save a considerable annual expenditure in repairs.
