GROWN LANDS BOARD.

The regular meeting of the Crown Lands Board was held yesterday, Present: Messrs. W. P. Moat. B. Tonks, and J. May. Mr. Tole, Chief Commissioner, was absent at the land sale at Gisborne. and Mr. Moat was called on to preside. The minutes were read and confirmed. Land Orders. - The Secretary for Crown Lands forwarded three land orders, three acres each, for members of Te Aroha special settlement. Avoxdale.—The Chairman of the Avondale District Board wrote —1, Applying for the re-aurvey of the Whau townships, north and south, in order that they might be brought into the market. 2. Application for a recreation reserve at Whau North. 3. Asking that certain bridges be constructed by the Government.—The Board decided to have the townships re-surveyed, and that after the survey shall have been completed, I a suitable site for recreation purposes be reserved, and that the portion of the letter referrins; to the bridges be submitted to the Public Works Department. Gisborne.—The Town Clerk of Gisborne wrote asking for the reservation from sale of lot SO. Patutahi, as it was probable that it may be required for local purposes, heiug a seurce from which a water supply may be obtained for Gisborne. — It was agreed, with the approval of the Minister of Lands, to withdraw the lot referred to from sale. Patctaiu.—The Chairman of the Patutahi Road Board applied for moneys due to the Board from the sale of deferred payment selections.—lt was decided to ask the applicant to furnish a map of the roads upon which it was proposed to expend the money. Qoarp.y Rssikve at Rancitoto.—The Secretary of the Harbour Board acknowledged the receipt of a communication from the Lands Board respecting the survey of the quarry reserve at Rangitoto. Late Applications for Crown Grants. —Late applications for Crown grants for lands selected under land orders were received, as follows Ann Of;deu, 40 acres, Okatiu ; and John Wilson, 40acres. Ararimu. —These were approved of, and Crown grants were ordered to be prepared. Homestead Selections.—The following homestead selections were approved :—Win. and Jessie McKay, 100 acres, Patiki ; and Messrs. Weaver, 225 acres, at Opuawhanga. Transfer.—The land officer at Gisborne forwarded the necessary papers for the transfer of a deferred payment selection at Waimata. Poverty Bay, from Walsh to Davis.— Tte Board assented to the transfer.

Slaughter Yard.—Thomas Ussher applied to the Board on the 12th of October for permission to lease or purchase 2 acres near Whangae as a site for a slaughter yard.— The application was referred to the Bay of Islands County Council, who now replied offering no objection. It was agreed to lease the area applied for to Mr. Ussher for three years, at a rental of £2 a year.

Timb'-r Pkkmits. — William McNeil, of Katikati, wrote asking to be informed if licences are granted for cuttiDg timber on Crown lands. The secretary was instructed to inform the applicant that timber licences are not to be issued.—An application from Daniel Fullerton for permission to cut timber on lot 2S, section 3, Pukekohe, was refused.

Mtrimoto.—On the application of Mr. E. T. Dufaur, it was decided to offer the Murimoto block (North Cape), 1355 acres, for lease for a period of 14 years.

Applications tor Land.—Several applications were received for land at Mangatawhiri, Omaru, Whanpamarino, Hikurangi, Pokeno, Great Barrier, and Waipu.—lt was resolved to have the lands applied for surveyed and offered for sale.-—Applications were also received for land at Whangaparoa, Kopuru, and Te Pake, but as they were likely to be required for public purposes, it was decided to withhold them from sale. MorNT Epkic.—An application was received for the purchase of a piece of land on Mount Eden-road, adjoining lot 10S, section 10.— It was resolved to offer it for sale, provided it was not required for local purposes. Forfeited Homestead.—Andrew Munro, of Whancarei, applied for a hoAestead selection, said to have become forfeited by Thomas Lee.—lt was agreed to inform the applicant that all forfeited selections required to be notified publicly before becoming available for re-selection. Improvements. — The ranger was instructed to inspect and report on the improvements effected by Messrs. Hull, on their selection at Tangihua.
