AUCKLAND FIRE BRIGADE.

PRESENTATION FOB BRAVE CONDUCT.

A meeting of the members of the Auckland Fire Brigade was held last night, when Superintendent Hughes, on behalf of the members of the brigade, presented to Fireman T. Solomon a medal bearing the following inscription :—" Presented to Fireman T. Solomon by his comrades in the Auckland Firo Brigade, to show their appreciation of his brave performance of duty on September 4, ISS2." The occasion was a lire in Karanga-liapc-road, when Firemau Solomon unhesitatingly obeyed an order, the carrying out of which involved considerable personal danger. The other side of tho medal has a neat shield with a fireman's helmet, and cross fireman's axes, bearing underneath the motto of the Auckland Fire Brigado, "United to Protect." After the conclusion of this business, a letter was read from the secretary of the Fire Brigade Association at Dunedin, asking if the brigade would send a representative to a meeting of the fire brigades at Napier. It was resolved to send as asked, and that, if possible, Superintendent Hughes should go. The annual balancesheet of the brigade was then laid before the meeting, and showed a satisfactory balance to credit.
