A team of cricketers will proceed by the s.s. Hawt-a, which leaves the Manakati today for J'arauaki. It is the intention of this team to play matches at Taranaki, Hawera, and adjacent centres, and to return again to Auckland by the same steamer, which will also bring the team at present down South. Messrs. Bailey and Kerr's diorama of the Egyptian war continues to attract large audiences. Knob visitor receives a present, some of which are ot a superior description. Last night there was a good attendance, and the entertainment appeared to be much appreciated. The clever conjuring tricks of Messrs. Bailey and Kerr afforded great amusement. The coiner of the session of the'Ponsonby Mutual Improvement Association will be celebrated this evening by an entertainment and fruit soiree, which will be held in the school-room adjoining the church. Addresses will be delivered by the Rev. Mr. Dewsbur} and others, and songs, solos, readings, &c.'v.-ill be given by well-known amateurs, and members of the class. Mr. H. Kohn's handy little Almanac and Calendar for December has been published. It is very neatly got up at the Hekalu Office, and contains useful information. It is provided gratuitously to his customers. Mr. George Sibbiu will offer for sale today, at eleven o'clock, a large quantity of English made furniture. To-day, Mr. L. \V. Eaton will sell at his auction mart at eleven o'clock, a quantity of bananas, pineapples, American apples, and onions. In connection with the Ponsonby Wesleyan Mutual Improvement Association an entertainment and fruit soiree will be held thla evening.
