At tlie meeting of the Board of Education oa Friday the lollowing items of business were transacted : —Application for teacher's house at Aratapu. On the motion of Mr. Dargaville, it was agreed that the work was one entitled to precedence. Tenders to be deferred for the present. An application for fencing at Katikati was deferred until the return of the Inspector. It was proposed to close No. 2 school at Mangapai, aad work No. las a half-time school. It was stated that the average attendance at No. 2 school was G, and No. 1 only 13. Mr. DargavUle suggested that six or three months' notice should be given before closing the school. This would give time for an effort to raise the :.veragc attendance. Mr. Goldie suggested that inquiry should be made as to the number of children in the district.
