SERIOUS ACCIDENTS.
[by TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Monday. A SERIOUS accident has befallen Sir. James Martin, who, on returning from Te Awamutu yesterday, when coming down Taylor's Hill, was thrown violently from his horse and dragged by the stirrup. Both bones of the left leg were broken, and the knee, ribs, and face much bruised. Fortunately, Mr. Sloans, of Te Awamutu, riding homo, found him lying helpless on the road, and hastening into Te Awamutu, sent a trap out for him. On arriving at Te Awamutu, Mr. Sloane set the leg as well as he could, and to-day Mr. Martin was brought down, to Hamilton by train, when Dr. Carey rc-set the limb. The patient goes to-morrow to the Auckland Hospital. On the same day Constable Gillies was thrown from his horse into a ditch, but fortunately was not mush hurt.
