■WAITARA. January 21.—The s.s. Mucgregor sailed last night for the Munukau, having on board twenty passengers. When off Vlbatross Point she met iritha heavy northerly gale, and had to run bick to Waitara. She arrived off the bar at 11 a.m., nnd was signalled, "Put to sea. Owing to th« gale and i-ea increasing, she could not stand off. and took the bar, which was breaking heavily, and crossed sately. Ihe Rowena was off the bur at 9 a.m., ancl whs signalled to put to son. It ii nuppoaod she hns gone to W unganui. WELLINGTON. January 21.—Arrived : Westport, from Westport ; Piitea, from Nelson. Cleared out.- Edwin Bassett, barque, for Newcastle. TIMARU. January 21.—Arrived : Candidate, ship, from Ne'son. Sailed : Beautiful Star, for Dunedin.
