FASHION NOTES. Lack pursues its triumphant career. Buttons are more beautiful thnn ever. A new reign of silver begins this season. It is the thing at present to have fans match the toilet. You cannot have a drawing-room at present ! without an easel. Scarfs employed as ovcrskirts are more popular than ever. Wear resisting, grease proof silks are announced in big capitals. Turkey red cornea in as a. novelty for boarding-school d.-esses for girls. Certain new designs in* stockings have shells alternating with ribbed stripes. Tresses and knots of linir, ringlets and bangs, are all of consi-qnenee at present. The modern bedroom suite of furniture has but three pieces that mat.-h —bod, wardrobo and bureau. Jet proudly holds up its head and lauyhs to scorn those who have recently declared it to bo on the wane. Either yellow gold or gold alloyed with copper to obrain the red tint is now most liked for bracelets. Side'-oards at present are as massive as wardrobes and bureaus ; stately structures like the English beaufets of the middle ages. Very little jewellery is now worn wit'i full-dress toilets, but decorations of flowers are profuse, and often mixed with small fruits. It is the style in Paris just now to cover everything iu a room with flowered materials. The walls, furniture, tables, mantelpieces, and even pictures, are half veiled by drapery of tin's sort. A style of needlework, which dates back to the days of the Pharaohs, has recently been revived to the extent of employing silk upon a delicate linen texture for curtains, coverlets and the general draperies ot a lady's room.
