[BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] Thames, Friday.

Mr. J. Sheehan addressed the electors of the Thames in the Academy of Music yesterday evening. The building was crowded in every part, and the audience gave the speaker a patient and attentive hearing. In his address, Mr. Sheehan traversed much of the same ground that he dealt with in his speech in Jnne last, previous to going to Wellington. He explained at length his connection with the Patetere Association, and gave a history of his connection with the Thames and his reasons for thinking he had a claim on the suffrages of the Thames electors. Mr. Sheehan spoke for rather more than an hour. Numerous questions were put to the candidate, all of which were apparently answered satisfactorily. Mr. R. Maedonald Scott proposed, and Mr. T. G. Cornes seconded a vote of thanks and confidence in Mr. Sheehan, which was declared carried. Thi3 evening Mr. Sheehan addresses a meeting at Paeroa, and Mr. Speight a meeting at Parawai. Hawera, Friday. Mr. George Hutchison's prospects have improved, although 1 do not think he has much chance. Still good public men are often thus rejected. Such a calamity as tho defeat of Major Atkinson would be undesirable, although it is not at all improbable. There are over 1700 electors on the Egmont roll. The district iB so scattered, that it is impossible to say how a large proportion will go, although I think Major Atkinson will win by a considerable majority. At the show of hands to-day Major Atkinson had a large majority, but Hawera is his stronghold outside the Taranaki County.

Mr. R. G. Wood intends to address the electors of Eden at the Public-hall, Mount Albert, on Monday evening, at 8 o'clock. A meeting of electors interested in furthering the candidature of Mr. Tole for the representation of Eden, was held last evening in the Excelsior-hall, Newton. The meeting but the usual measures and examination of the roll were adopted. Dr. Wallis addressed a meeting of City West electors last night, at James'-hall. There was only a small attendance, including ladies. Mr. Ryan was in the chair. The address wa3 listeued to with considerable interest, but no votes of thanks or confidence in the candidate were passed. The chairman received vote of thanks for his services. An outline of Dr. Wallis' address is published elsewhere. Mr. W. J. Hurst announces that he will meet the electors cf Waitemalaat the Helensrille Public Hall on Monday evening, at eight o'clock. Mr. 0. Curran McGee intimates his inten--tion of addressing the electors of Manukau this evening in the Masonic-hall, Onehunga, and in the Epsom-hall on Tuesday evening. Owing to indisposition, Mr. Monk was unable to address the electors of Parnell at St. Sepulchre's School-room last night. Mr. W. L. Rees met the electors of City North last night in the Theatro .Royal. The proceedings were very animated. A good deal of excitement prevailed. He received a rote of confidence from the electors. A report of the proceedings will be found in another * column.
