DYNAMITE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln your issue of 2(ith a cablegram says:—"A quantity of dynamite onboard the steamer Glasgow, at Bristol, exploded, nine persons were killed," &c. It is to be regretted that many accidents are at once and groundlessly attributed to dynamite ; whereas, we are not aware, nor our company, who take great pains to enquire, that there ever has been a single accident with their dynamite, cither in transit, storage, or legitims te use. The above, also, is now proved bovond a doubt to be not explosion—nor did wo think it was at the time —but an explosion from naphtha. By kindly inserting this yon will oblige, as already the above error has been urged against saftey and use of dynamite.—Yours, &e., E. PORTKII AND Co. Auckland, November 30, ISSI.
