Maxagixu Director or Purveying Department John Fisher This Company proposes to purchase the business of Messrs. Fi3her and Co., of Auckland, and to carry on the wholesale and retail Butchering, Meat freezing, and Preserrinj trade, together with Fellmongery» Tanning, and other t ranches of the business which may be found expedient, and it ia confidently expected that with increased capital and improved appliances, the present profitable business can be very much further developed. Two months since orders were sent home for * Bell ! Coleman Freezing Machine, capable of freezing 126 tons measurement, and manufacturing two tons of ico daily. It is manifest that \n a warm climate, such a3 oura, this process will enable the Company to carry on operations with economy and success, as with a properly htted-up chilling chamber, there will be no necessity to feed a heavy stock of cattle, sheep, and poultry, fta the supply can be regulated exactly by the requ reuients of the trade; the meat being only chilled, not frozen, will keep fully forty-eight hours longer than meat killed under the most favourable conditions. It will also offer great facilities for storing butter, game, and other perishable goods ; and enable the North of New Zealand to compete successfully with any other part of She Colonies in the manufacture of bacon, curing hams, and production of preserved meats. TANNERY AND FELLMONCERY.— I The latter ha 3 been carried on by Messrs. Fisher and Co. during the last twelve months, and with a view of extending the business to tanning and woolscouring, a dam was erected, capable of holding half-a-million gallons of water, and a 4 inch pipe laid a distance of 1,300 feet, to the first building erccted on the site; and Mr. Aickin, C.E., has surveyed and made plans for a dam to hold three million gallons of water. The supply of water is admitted by experts to be practically unlimited, and good judges, who have inspected the Otahuhu property, agree that great foresight and judgment have been shewn in laying out the works or a largo and increasing business. Mr. Thomas Russell hia very kindly sent out a oomplete plan and specitication for a Model Tannery and Fellinongerv, using tramways and every appliance of the most modern construction. This will be of immense advantage to the proposed Company, enabling them to make a large outturn of a very superior article and having the benefit of the very lates: scientific improvements in its manufacture. Arrangements have been made with the Government to have a station on the site of the works, thus enabling th- Company to carry on a large shipping and carrying business, with every facility and despatch. It is also proposed to utilise all refuse in the manufacture of a superior manure. These works t>ave been in operation six months, and the article produced has given the greatest satisfaction. Mr. William Aitken and a Committee selected from the Provisional Directors have inspected all the freehold properties of Messrs. Fisher ami Co.. and have arranged the valuations on a most satisfactory basis. The live stock, carts, and general stock-in-trade will be valued by Mr. Jas. Wallace and Mr. flobt. Hall, and the business taken over on the Ist dav of January, 1332. Messrs. Fisher and Co. accept 25.000 paid-up shares in the Company, in full payment for all the freehold properties, furniture, ire. It is proposed that Mr. Fisher should act as Managing Director of the meatpurveying department, and Mr. Banks of the tannery and fellmongerv, Arc.
