Tho following is the report of the Auokl*nd Lunatic Asylum and Old Hospital Auxiliary, for the week ending July 30th 1881 : Remaining last week, 241; admitted since, 2 ; discharged, 1; died, 0; remaining, IG7 malee, 75 females; total, 242, Cuckoo ! Ctokoo ! !—These sounds, so familiar and so redolont of poetic fictions and memories to those who claim the " Old Land" as their home, are unknown to the majority of the inliabitants of these sunny Islands. But asnear an approach face of which, as the hands approach the Lour a window opens and a miniature cuckoo trills forth its mellifluous notes, to tho wonderment and dolight of the hundreds who throne thatbusy quarter.
