AN APPEAL TO THE CHARITABLE DISPOSED.

. TO THE MOTOR. Sir,—Tlie Auckland Press lias often rendered good service to persons in affliction, and I venture once more to bespeak your kindness by publishing this appeal in behalf of a poor widow and two young orphans. They arrived here three months ago in the ship Oxford, and the husband died suddenly 14 days before they landed. They have endured graat hardships here,: and, being well connected in the Old Country, it is thought best to send them back to their relations by the ship, which sails from this port for London on Saturday next. Forty pounds will be required within the next three days, and I earnestly beg of those who are disposed to help these poor creatures to do so at once. I need not waste words in trying to make people realise the mournful lot of a woman tenderly brought up and suddenly deprived of all means of support for herself and two helpless orphans amongst strangers in a strange land.—l am, &c., F. G. Ewington.
